Avantouinti (dipping in a hole in the ice) has long been a tradition in Finland. However, more recently, it has made somewhat of a comeback and it could be said that it is enjoying a bit of a trend status.
As science progresses so does our understanding of the health benefits surrounding cold exposure and never before have people been seeking out new ways to experience and enjoy this practice.
As an Australian living in Finland, Northern Europe, i found this traditional past-time and totally embraced it as part of my own strategy and method to not only withstand the cooler climate but to begin enjoying it.
Soon after, my thirst for knowledge and understanding of cold exposure rose and to my surprise, there was plenty of content to dive into.
I trained with Wim Hof, i trained with Stig Severinsen - both of whom hold Guinness Book of World Records for various feats, and expanded my own practice to incorporate what many deem to be the most "intense" and demanding way to experience the cold, via freediving under the ice.
Armed with this knowledge, experience and expertise, i am excited and to be honest proud to be able to offer you a unique weekend experience where i will share what i have learned and this includes the possibility to experience the cold from underneath the ice in a safe, supervised yet fun and exciting way that will invite you to push your own personal boundaries.
This also represents an amazing accomplishment that very few ever have access to and truly is a unique experience and one that too few have access to. The best aspect is that it is arranged by seasoned professionals who have incredible amounts of experience and above all else, safety is kept at the highest order and includes the very best equipment, knowledge and techniques - you are in the safest of hands. There will be safe divers in the water as you make the dive under the ice to make sure the safety.
